Mise collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs, and it makes no network requests of any kind. Everything you put into it — including any receipt you photograph — stays on your iPhone.
Nothing. There is no server to send anything to. We could not identify you or your household if we wanted to, and we have no way to see what you cook, what you buy, or how often you use the app.
Mise stores the following in its own private container, which only Mise can read:
None of this is transmitted. It is included in your iPhone's encrypted device backup if you have backups switched on, which is between you and Apple.
Mise can remind you to take something out of the freezer or start something soaking. These are local notifications, scheduled on your device by the app itself. There is no push service, so nothing about your plan leaves your phone to make a reminder happen.
You can photograph a shop receipt so Mise can work out what you actually paid and keep its price estimates honest. The image is read on your iPhone using Apple's on-device text recognition. The photo is never uploaded, never stored by Mise, and never seen by us — Mise keeps only the total you confirm and any grocery items it recognised, both of which stay on your device.
You will be asked for camera or photo-library access the first time you use it. Declining costs you nothing else in the app; you can type the total instead.
Mise asks for three things, each only at the moment it is needed: notifications (for freezer and soaking reminders, after you plan a month), and the camera or photo library (only if you choose to scan a receipt). It does not request contacts, location, microphone or health data, and declares no such permissions.
Mise is not directed at children and children do not use it. You can record a child's age so that portions and dishes are appropriate for them. That age is a number stored on your own device and is never transmitted.
Your data lives on your device for as long as the app is installed. Deleting Mise removes all of it immediately and permanently. There is no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing to request, export or ask us to erase.
If a future version of Mise ever sends anything off the device — reading a recipe from a link, for example — this page will say so plainly and in advance of that version shipping. As of version 1.0 it does not.
