None. Reef has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no backend server. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, device identifiers, or usage analytics.
Reef uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to lock the phone to the activities you choose. The apps you pick are represented by opaque tokens that Apple keeps on the device; Reef cannot read app names or see your selection, and none of it ever leaves the phone.
On Android, Reef uses an Android accessibility service instead. While Reef is on, the service learns the package name of the app that comes to the front, so it can cover apps you have not allowed. It does not read what is on the screen — no text, messages or passwords — and it is not used for any other purpose. The apps you allow are stored as package names in Reef's own private storage on the device. None of this is ever transmitted, and Reef has no server to send it to.
If you set a PIN, it is salted and hashed and stored in the device Keychain. We never receive it. Face ID / Touch ID is handled entirely by iOS — Reef only learns whether authentication succeeded. On Android the salted hash is kept in Reef's private app storage, which other apps cannot read and which is excluded from backups; fingerprint, face and screen-lock checks are handled by Android.
When you add a website as a tile, Reef opens it in a locked in-app browser pinned to that one site. Your child's browsing happens on the device; Reef does not log, store, or transmit it. The sites themselves are governed by their own privacy policies.
The one-time unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment information. Apple handles the transaction under Apple's Privacy Policy. On Android it is processed by Google Play under Google's Privacy Policy; Reef checks the purchase on the device and does not send it to any server.
If you tap "Send feedback," Reef opens a pre-addressed email in your mail app. Sending it is your choice, and it includes only what you write plus basic app and device info (like the iOS or Android version) to help us fix bugs. Nothing is sent unless you press send.
Reef is a tool parents use to keep their child inside a safe, contained space. Because we collect no data at all, the app is safe for all ages.
