Create a song, then tap "Record hum" on a track. Allow microphone access, hum or sing along to the 4-beat count-in, then tap Stop. Your melody appears as editable notes on the track's piano roll. Use headphones so the metronome click doesn't bleed into the mic.
Transcription works best with a clear, steady hum (an "ooh" or "aah" sound) rather than words. If a note is off, open the piano roll and drag it to the right pitch, resize it, or delete it. You can also turn off "Snap to grid" before recording to keep your natural timing.
Add a Drum layer, then tap "Record beatbox." Use punchy sounds — "b" for kick, "ts/ch" for hi-hats, "k/p" for snare. Each hit becomes a drum on the grid.
They play automatically. When you record a new layer, your existing tracks play back right after the count-in so you can stay in time. Use headphones for the cleanest result.
Tap the share icon at the top of a song. Choose M4A or WAV audio, a MIDI file (opens in GarageBand, Logic, Ableton, FL Studio and more), or per-track stems. Then pick where to save or send it.
Free includes 3 layers, 12 core instruments, and M4A export. Vocal Chords Pro (a subscription) unlocks unlimited layers, all 41 instruments, every effect, and MIDI / WAV / stem export. You can also buy individual sound packs as one-time purchases.
Open the Sound Packs screen (tap the crown on the song list) and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open the Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Vocal Chords. From there you can change or cancel.
