A Google results page shows ten links and the customer picks. An AI answer names two or three companies and the customer picks from those. There is no second page, and no amount of ranking tenth helps you.
The companies that got linked were not the biggest ones. They were the ones whose own website answered the question being asked.
A page per question, not per service. What a roof costs. What to do at 9pm with water coming through the ceiling. How long a furnace swap takes. Most local sites have a "Services" page, which answers none of those.
The town written into the text. Not just the footer. "Langley", "Surrey", "Fraser Valley" in headings and sentences, because that is the phrase being matched.
Prices, or at least ranges. Two of our six questions were cost questions. A site that won't discuss money can't be the answer to them.
