Feng Shui Scan · Last updated 30 September 2026
Feng Shui Scan maps your home with your iPhone or iPad's camera and reads it through Feng Shui, and it can calculate a personal BaZi chart from your birth details. A floor plan of where you live and the date, time and place you were born are both personal. This policy explains exactly what the app keeps, where, and what — if anything — leaves your phone.
The short version. Your homes, floor plans, birth details and readings are stored only on your iPhone or iPad. There is no account, no cloud sync and no copy on any server of ours, so we cannot see them and cannot recover them. Camera frames are processed on the device and never uploaded or stored. What does leave the phone is described below: a small set of anonymous usage events, anonymous crash reports, the text you type into the birth-place search (sent to Apple), and — in the free version — what Google's advertising system receives.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Floor plans — walls, doors, windows and furniture outlines produced by a scan | So the analysis, the flow path and your saved homes are there when you come back. |
| ARKit's map of each scanned home — feature points describing the room's shapes, with no camera images | So the phone can recognise the room later and show its flow in AR without rescanning. |
| Homes and their rooms, including the copies kept while a scan is in progress | So an interrupted scan can be resumed rather than lost. |
| Which way the home faces (a compass heading) | For the Bagua map by compass direction. |
| BaZi birth details — date, time and place of birth, and optionally sex | To calculate a Four Pillars chart. Sex is optional and is used only for the traditional rule that sets the direction of the luck cycles. |
| The coordinates and time zone of the birth place you chose | To convert your birth time correctly for the chart. |
| Daily check-ins — a 1–5 rating and an optional note you write | So you can look back at how your days went. |
| Readings and settings | So the app behaves the way you set it. |
None of this is attached to an account, because there is no account. It is not synced to iCloud or to any server, and we have no copy of it. Saved floor plans are kept in the app's private storage and are excluded from device backups, so they are not carried to a new phone by an iCloud or computer backup.
Scanning uses Apple's RoomPlan on iPhones and iPads with LiDAR, or, on other devices, you mark corners and doorways by hand. Either way, camera frames are processed on the device and are never uploaded and never stored. Only the resulting floor plan is saved, on the device.
When you look up a birth place, the app uses Apple Maps search on your device. The text you type is sent to Apple to find matching places, and Apple's privacy policy applies to that search. The coordinates and time zone of the place you pick are stored on your device only.
The compass heading is used to record which way your home faces. Your location itself is not stored and is not uploaded.
The app sends a small number of usage events to a server operated by ZET Studios
(api.tovatranslate.app, an events endpoint shared across ZET
Studios apps). Each event is a name with a few non-identifying details — for
example "scan_completed" with a room count.
The free version shows banner advertisements supplied by Google AdMob.
Subscriptions and the one-time purchase are processed by Apple. We never receive your payment card details.
Reminders — such as a monthly check-in and seasonal reminders — are scheduled on your device. There is no push-notification server.
If the app crashes, iOS records a crash diagnostic and, if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone or iPad's settings, gives it to the app the next time it opens. The app then sends a crash report to a server operated by ZET Studios so we can find and fix the problem. A crash report contains:
Crash reports contain nothing about your homes, scans or floor plans, no birth details or check-ins, and no identifier that links them to you or to your other reports. Like any request to our server, the IP address it came from is recorded, to limit abuse; we do not use it to identify you. If you haven't chosen to share analytics with developers, iOS gives the app nothing and no report is sent.
| Who | What they do |
|---|---|
| Apple | Apple Maps search for birth places, payments for subscriptions and purchases, and crash reports if you opted in to sharing them. |
| Google AdMob | Advertising in the free version only. |
| ZET Studios | Receives the anonymous usage events described in section 5 and the crash reports described in section 9. |
Everything in section 1 stays on your device until you remove it. Deleting a home or a profile in the app removes it; deleting the app removes all of it. Because we hold no copy, we cannot restore anything you delete. Anonymous usage events are deleted after at most 120 days. Individual crash reports are deleted after 60 days; a summary of each distinct crash (its type and where in the code it happened) is kept so we can tell whether a fix worked.
Feng Shui Scan is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the UK and EU, and under Canadian and Californian privacy law — you may have the right to see, correct or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. Most of what the app handles never reaches us, and you can delete it yourself in the app. For anything else, write to us at the address below.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who receives it, the date at the top will change.
